Commentary
Only minutes from Noosa Heads and located
on the southern edge of the Noosa Heads National Park is
Sunshine Beach and a little further along, Sunrise Beach.
Incorporating some of Australia’s most innovative,
architect-designed homes, the Sunshine Beach area has its own
unique and laid-back style.
Once known as Golden Beach, Sunshine Beach is renowned for its sand, surf and the ambience of stylish boutiques, cafes and restaurants. Join the local cafe society - find a spot on a wide deck for breakfast, lunch, dinner or any time in between. Call in at a bakery, deli or general store for fresh local produce or a snack.
The area formerly known as Golden Beach was rarely visited before the 1920s. In 1928, Thomas Marcus Burke gained land there in exchange for building roads and bridges from Tewantin. After World War II it was marketed by his son, Marcus, as Sunshine Beach. The wide, open coastline hosts a variety of banks for an endless, uncrowded surfing session and the section in front of the Surf Club is patrolled year round.
