Commentary

Only 15 minutes drive inland from Noosa Heads, Doonan is a hinterland community, predominantly made up of rural and acreage properties. The name is believed to come from the Aboriginal word for leaf.  In recent times, a number of prestigious modern homes nestled in bushland with superb hinterland views have sold for in excess of a million dollars.

Doonan is host to The Great Noosa Camp Out - a three-day music festival over the Easter long weekend that runs 24 hrs with numerous events and activities. The same site, known as House with No Steps - an acreage property with expansive hinterland views - also hosts the Ripe Noosa music festival.

The only retail outlet as such in Doonan is the service station on the way into Noosa Heads.

Given its great proximity to Noosa, Doonan is a great place to stay with a number of B & B's in the area and home to the Noosa Valley Winery. If you like a hit of golf, you can head to the Noosa Valley Country Club located on Valley Dr or for great fishing, Lake Weyba is only a short drive away at neighbouring Weyba Downs.

Doonan is also only a short drive to Eumundi - famous for its local markets.
